Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

The Del Sol Women’s Health Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BIOCE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This esteemed designation confirms that Del Sol has earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. This includes accreditation in stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

Receiving the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence accreditation by the ACR confirms Del Sol’s dedication to improving women's health by participating in these rigorous quality assurance programs, making it the only Breast Imaging Center of Excellence in El Paso.

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physician and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
